|  The University College of Teacher Education (Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule/KPH) Vienna/Krems offers course programmes that enable students to obtain a teaching qualification for compulsory schooling and/or a teaching qualification for teachers of Religious Education (Bachelor of Education). The institution builds on the tradition of eight former teacher training colleges, which were founded in the late 1960ies. Officially the KPH Wien/Krems was opened on October 1st, 2007 and consists of three campuses. Teacher Education is based on a set of Christian values with a strong ecumenical profile.
The college offers research based modular curricula designed to meet the educational challenges of the 21st century. Competence based courses following international standards are complemented with theory based teaching practice in selected schools. The holistic approach to education is shared with and enhanced through the co-operation with European partner institutions.
1100 students are enrolled in initial teacher training courses and about 18 400 educationalists participate in various in-service training programmes (kindergarten, primary, secondary and adult education).

ROLE IN THE PROJECT
The University College of Education Vienna/Krems has been involved in numerous European projects focusing on CLIL (LINGUA, ERASMUS IP and LEONARDO) at secondary and tertiary level. In-service teacher training courses and initial teacher training courses based on the results and outcomes of these projects are offered. This expertise will help to contribute to the eCLILT project in a variety of ways (e.g. development and design of learning materials, preparation of a course for future CLIL teachers, dissemination of the activities and results on the institution’s website).
