|  The Directorate of Secondary Education of Piraeus belongs to the Peripheral Directorate of Secondary Education which is a branch of the Ministry of Education in Attiki. Its former appellation since 1971 was “General Educational Inspectorate of Secondary Education” and it was renamed “Directorate of Secondary Education” under the Greek law 1304/1982. The head offices of the institution are situated in Piraeus, the capital of the prefecture of Piraeus. Under the responsibility of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Piraeus are 175 school units.
The Institution promotes the conduct of various programmes concerning environmental, cultural, health issues and places particular emphasis on programmes which help the students decide on suitable professions through Programmes of Professional Orientation in which specialized teachers consult and guide the students and their parents on making a correct choice.

ROLE IN THE PROJECT
Our institution supports secondary school teachers (in-service). It aims at improving their teaching skills and broadening their experience through our participation in the project. Moreover, it is highly interested in training foreign language teachers as well as subject teachers to be able to run the first pilot bilingual streams in one or more schools in Greece as no CLIL schools exist at the moment.
Eventually, our institution is strongly interested in preparing the first teacher-trainers for CLIL and we all anticipate the approval of the programme since our dynamic team is determined to go beyond ordinary teaching boundaries and amplify teaching horizons for the benefit of our students.
